Proactive is defined by Webster's dictionary as "creating or controlling a situation by causing something to happen rather than responding to it after it has happened." While reactive is defined as "acting in response to a situation rather than creating or controlling it." Over the last month the news has reported an alarming number of incidents at bars and nightclubs. Just yesterday a man was reported shooting outside of a Mauldin, SC bar injuring patrons. A few weeks earlier, in Greenville, SC a bar fight contributed to the death of one of the employees. Neither reports indicated that there were any proactive measures in place. While I'm out in the field working I ask one question, what does it means to be proactive vs reactive in your establishment? I've heard a lot of different and creative answers, but the bottom-line is, 911! Most of the time, what I've found is that the focus is on running the establishment, which it should be. Most owners and general managers want to have a safe environment they just don't realize that proactive is better than reactive as it relates to security. When a response is needed to the safety and security of their establishment, the reliance is heavily placed on law enforcement. Yes, that is what they are here for, and we love our SC Law Enforcement Officers. Proactive measures is having a safety net in place that generates an immediate response rather than having to wait on a response. Reactive measures involve the police and sometimes other emergency services such as firemen and even an ambulance. This meaning that the situation has already taken place and now we need to put things to bed. Arrest need to be made, fires put out, even a trip to the emergency room. Running things in a reactive fashion allows things to get out of control. It allows an environment that can be viewed as unsafe and even cause harm to the patrons and employees. As a SLED Certified Private Security company what all of this means is this, we integrate ourselves into your business. We have the authority to make arrest on your property, we can detain and work with the local law enforcement when they arrive, we also support the company from start to finish should a trip to court be warranted. As an ambassador we know how you want your business to run, we know when things aren't running in a proper fashion and we can intercept to be proactive and bring things back on course. It's simple... you run your business and allow Bravo1 Protection to be the proactive measure needed to create security for you, your patrons, and employees.
