Supervised Visitations

Sometimes families break apart and there is a need for safe supervision for a non-custodial parent to visit their child. Bravo1 Protection is the only security company in Greenville offering secure supervisions with SLED-certified security officers. Whether your visits are court-ordered or voluntary, we are happy to provide our services to keep your child(ren) safe. Because we are a licensed security company, we can go to great lengths in order to make your visits happen.

How does it work?

1. Intake Form: Each of parents/guardians will need to submit the Supervised Visit Intake Form that's shown below. Our team will review both submissions to determine the feasibility and what considerations will need to be in place to have a successful visit(s). There is a $40 fee for each party to submit an Intake Form. We will not start intake interviews or conversations until both forms are submitted.
2. Phone Interview: After we have reviewed both Intake Forms, we will schedule a phone call with each parent so we can ask additional questions to fully understand the situation. We are careful to remain neutral, respectful, and unbiased at all times. We will review court records, personal history, and visit locations. We understand there might be damaged relationships, but we will work to mediate between the parties and come up with a visitation plan that makes sense for your families.
3. Protocols: Once we have spoken with both parties, we will draft Visitation Protocols specific to your family's needs. These protocols will set the expectations for all parties on how the visit will go. Both parents will be sent a copy of the Visitation Protocols to e-sign.
4. Scheduling: Once we have completed and both parties have agreed to the Visitation Protocols, visits can be scheduled. We are happy to mediate the schedule, or if the parents are on speaking terms they can work collectively to request dates for the visits.
5. Payment: Payment will need to be received at least 7 days before the visit. If payment isn't received, the visit will be cancelled.

*Please note, the entire Intake Process can take 2-3 weeks depending on the responsiveness and cooperation of everyone involved. Please don't make travel plans until your visit is confirmed and payment is made.

The Visits

We want your children to feel safe and secure, so we prefer to supervise the visits in your home whenever possible. Of course the home would need to be child-friendly and free of weapons, drugs, alcohol, and other illegal paraphernalia. We would arrive 15 minutes before the visit to do an inspection to ensure the environment is safe for the child to visit.  If we determine that the home is not safe, we will cancel the visit.

In addition to environmental safety, we also want to make sure those in the home at the time of the visit are in a sober condition to visit with the child. We will ask you and any guests a few questions to ensure sobriety and positivity. If we feel that the parent is inebriated, or would present a danger to the child, we will cancel the visit.

During the visit the parent is free to play with their child. We try to stay out of the way, but will make recommendations for activities if needed. If you have a vehicle, we can certainly travel with you to go to a park, go out to eat, or visit another public place. We do not allow you to go to the residence of a friend or relative during a supervised visitation without prior approval.

If home visits aren't an option, we are happy to meet at our office in Greenville, SC, or meet at a neutral, safe location.

What does the officer do?

The first priority of our officers is to ensure the safety of the child or children we are assigned to protect. We do this by observing the behavior of those around the child and will intervene when needed. We wear plain clothes and tell the child we are monitoring the visits, not necessarily that we are security officers. If there is a history of violence from the visiting parent, we may make the decision to carry a concealed weapon to protect the child in the worst case scenario. That decision is not made lightly, but we will do so as part of the intake process.

Although we have the powers to make an arrest, we will only arrest an individual if they are a presenting an immediate violent threat to another. We don't regularly arrest individuals for drugs or alcohol abuse, we just cancel the visit.

Typically you could expect to work with 2-3 different officers depending on your visit schedules. We try to keep consistent officers whenever possible. We have both male and female officers.

Officer Training

All of our officers are trained and vetted thoroughly by our staff before they supervise visits. We hand pick the officers for these assignments based on their personality, experience, and record with our company. Aside from the Safeguard SC training for SLED-certified security officers, they are also trained in-house through with our Supervised Visitation curriculum. We cover a wide range of topics including:
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Safety Inspections
  • Child Interaction and Engagement
  • Daily Reporting

Custodial Exchanges

Splitting custody between two parents who shouldn't see each other? We also offer Custodial Exchanges at our office near Downtown Greenville starting at $40 per exchange.
