Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that you may have never hired a security guard before, so we've answered some of our basic questions below.
Are you SLED-certified? What does that mean?
Yes, our company and our officers are SLED-certified. That means we can make arrests for crimes of aggression on your property much like a police officer would. If your city is requiring that you hire SLED-certified security officers, you must contract them out through a SLED-certified company. You can't hire someone on their own, an individual license is only good when they work for a licensed company. Keep in mind Crowd Management personnel are not SLED-certified, so they are limited on the services they can provide.
Are you insured?
Yes, we currently carry a $4 million general liability policy and worker's compensation policy. Private businesses and organizations can be added as an Additional Insured to our policy at no cost. Private parties will incur a $25 certificate fee. All of our staff are full employees, not contractors, so they are covered under our worker's compensation insurance if they get hurt on the job.
How much does an officer cost?
Our rates vary based on the amount of hours requested and the skill level required of our officers. Contact our team for a complimentary consultation.
What will your staff wear?
The standard uniform for a security officer and crowd management personnel is a blue Bravo1 polo shirt with khaki pants. You may request our officers wear a suit and tie OR an oxford shirt if the situation is appropriate. All staff will wear a badge clearly stating their appropriate role. Custom uniforms can be provided for an additional fee. We can be undercover with approval from SLED if the situation needs it.
Can you make an arrest?
Yes, our security officers have just as much authority as a sheriff's deputy when acting on your contracted property. We do have an Operating Procedure that dictates we only make arrests for certain crimes, such as crimes of aggression. In the event we do make an arrest, we will contact local law enforcement to transport the perpetrator to the local detention facility. In certain circumstances it may be more appropriate for us to call law enforcement to make the arrest, in which case we will make a witness statement. During your initial consult we will discuss when it is appropriate for us to make an arrest and the procedures to do so.
Do you carry any weapons?
Our unarmed guards and Crowd Management personnel do not carry any weapons. If you would like to request an armed service, we can certainly provide that for an additional hourly rate. We do issue our guards flexicuffs and flashlights in case they are needed. We do ask that our clients not provide our guards weapons on their own, since the officers might not have been trained on that particular weapon.
Do you provide First Aid and Medical treatment? |
|
While some of our officers may be First Aid/CPR certified, we are not licensed or insured as an Emergency Medical Service. If you need a dedicated first aid station, we can provide you with the name of a recommended service.
Will you search guests for paraphernalia as they arrive?
Some clients may request that we search guests for unauthorized paraphernalia such as weapons, narcotics or alcohol before they enter the property. We can certainly arrange to do this, but there are some signs the business owner must post before we can do this. We'll discuss the parameters for searches and seizures during your initial consult.
Will you ID my guests?
We are happy to verify the age of your patrons before they enter your establishment. We do ask that the business provide wristbands or another stamping method, and the staff must cooperate with us and not serve minors who we have not verified.
Do you offer any training courses?
Yes! We offer a variety of training courses for both individuals and businesses. Check out our Training Page for more options.
